Industry Leadership Series:
"An Intimate Discussion with the Secretary of the Treasury"
Friday, March 7, 2008 It is not every day that the FWA
has the opportunity to engage in an intimate forum with such prominent
economic policy makers as the United States Secretary of the Treasury. With
great excitement from a sellout crowd at the Palo Alto Four Seasons on March
7, 2008, Henry Paulson, the 74th Treasury Secretary, took the podium for 10
minutes of prepared remarks and over 20 minutes of questions and answers.
Mr. Paulson gave high-level remarks on the state of the US
economy, and delved into housing and credit issues. Highlights included the
announcement of a forthcoming “blueprint” from the President’s Working Group
on Financial markets to improve the oversight of financial institutions, as
well as an emphasis on the historic relationship of innovation leading
